Proverb

O gĩathĩ nĩkĩrĩ, mũrugĩrwo wakĩo.

Translation

Every feast has its guest of honour.

Comment

The postproverbial puts emphasis on time while the traditional proverb’s emphasis is on the personality, the one for whom the feast is set. The choice of day as opposed to the dignitary indicates that contemporary society is constructed in such a way that the day (time) is more significant than the people who partake of the scheduled activities.
