The literal meaning of this proverb is: “Unlike farming, commerce is not profitable.” “Nwor” is a term for farm(ing), the Mwaghavul’s people’s traditional occupation. This in the days was considered a very lucrative business. One’s wealth, in those days was measured by bountiful harvest which is showcased by the size of harvest and number of granaries.
